PI Blogger sees Negativity responded to Positivity.

With the economic crisis that the world is going through, it is not surprising, that while doing daily errands and shopping, how negative the shoppers have been.  Although it is not surprising, I am quite astonished how quickly these shoppers will try to make anyone feel just as bad as they are. The “Positive Imperative” of Hope

PI Founder, Victor Sinclair examines the impact of Barack Obama and the hope imperative.

Why are people all over the world getting so wrapped up in Barack Obama?   It’s easy to understand why Americans are getting more excited about Obama than any President since John F. Kennedy, as he is bringing new hope to millions throughout the land.  Is all the excitement also because he’s going to change the countries economy and world status in a very short time?  Most people including Barack himself have said, that’s not going to happen.  Is it because he’s going to change both the fate of a country and thus maybe the world and if so why?

As a non lay person of world politics and economics it’s far beyond my expertise to analyze why the world is in this particular plight of negativity, except to say when lyrics of songs from the 70’s like the O’Jays “Love Train” ring as true today as they did 40+ years ago, much hasn’t changed.  When Ultimate Wrestling reminds us of Romans and Gladiators we must conclude that nothing much has changed, or has it?

There is so much pressure today to look a certain way, to be a certain way. We are constantly at war with ourselves. We want to look like her/him. We want to be like her/him. If only we did, then life would be great.

We want to be confident, to love ourselves, to enjoy our life, to find that dream job or relationship…but how? It is not that we lack the motivation to achieve theses things, it is that often we lack the  tools to accomplish all these wants. Without the knowledge of these simple, valuable tools, it is easy to allow our determination to turn into frustration. Most times the knowledge of how to love ourselves and pursue our dreams eludes us.Wouldn’t it be nice to clean up the clutter in our brains, to say goodbye to the overbearing chatter in our mind telling us we are not lovable, we can’t achieve our dreams?

Harvard Study Shows Happiness is Catching On

If money can’t buy you happiness, then what can get it for you?  Dr. John Schinnerer examines many aspects of the elusive word and the notion that happiness can be learned.

Happiness is catching. Happiness spreads through friends, spouses, siblings and neighbors. There is a ripple effect whereby happiness extends widely through social networks, even between people who may not know one another. One’s happiness depends on the degree of happiness of those surrounding her.

First of a kind study on Happiness at Harvard?

Part of the dialog of the Positive Imperative, in its simple form is …. “More of this” and “Less of that” with the conversation focus on the more of this. This of course applies to music as well.

It will take you another click to see my list of top ten positive songs.  Curious? :>)

What’s So Imperative?

Patrick Mathieu, Author, Life Coach, Speaker

Patrick Mathieu, Author, Life Coach, Speaker

As you know, the title of this website is the Positive Imperative.  Now we all understand what “positive” means.  And we can all agree that “positive” is a good thing.  We want positivity in our lives.  A positive outlook on life, positive friends, a positive work environment, and a positive bank balance are just a few things that come to mind.  Not too many people would argue against these.

So that covers the “Positive” part - now what about the “Imperative” part?  What is so darned imperative about being positive? Well, you might guess the reason is that… it’s imperative to be positive because the alternative is to be negative. (say THAT three times fast!)
