DAY 60 Today we are thankful for farmers

Through a farmer’s hard work we get much of the food that’s put on our table. Has it ever occurred to you how many days a year many farmer works?

There isn’t a day that goes by where we don’t hear issues of job security and working conditions on a local news station carrying a story, usually on some union contract negotiations. When I hear those stories I often am grateful for those people who take on life often with few or no guarantees and often n the most challenging working conditions.

How many days a year?

There are two times a year a farmer usually works from 4 or 5 am sometimes ’til 11PM or later, (thanks to technology and the advent of large spotlights on their tractors (not always safe but done none the less) and that of course is for spring planting and fall harvest. Some farmers may have winter’s off but most keep busy with some form of work and those farmers with livestock like dairy cows actually work 365 days a year without a holiday. Cows need milking around the clock and they can’t wait or their health would be in jeopardy not to mention the lack of productivity harming the farmer’s income, so it’s not like they can take an evening off or sleep in Sunday mornings.

If you ask them most farmers will tell you they do it because its a way of life, and something they love to do, but also they feel it’s important work, ’cause if they don’t farm, we don’t eat, and it’s hard to argue with that one. On the whole farmers have had a tough go of it in recent years for a number of different reasons, most of which are obvious but they include low prices, bad weather, competing with corporate farms government regulations, insect and fungus problems and oh yes… safety on the job…..and just plain and simply trying to make ends meet.

So at the end of the day, perhaps farmers are one of the most obvious things we take for granted. Today and each day, we tip our hat and say a loud THANK YOU, …… after all they might be on the tractor :>)!

PIQ Positive Imperative Question Have you ever stopped to think about how much work goes into a slice of cheese or a quart of milk and where that potato onion or box of corn flakes came from. Next time you get a chance, engage a Farmer in a conversation about farming…. you’ll learn a lot! :>)

DAY 59 Today we are thankful for silence!

Silence is a source of great strength. Lao Tse

With the hustle and bustle of the world it is hard to find silence. Did you know there’s more than one kind of silence?

Silence of the environment.

It is getting harder and harder to find silence in today’s world Some people have never experienced it. Even when you go out to a remote location in the country chances are you will still hear wind, birds and other subtle sounds to break the silence.

Music and silence combine strongly because music is done with silence and silence is full of music. ~ Marcel Marceau

Silence of the mind.

Perhaps the hardest part of silence is to quite the mind which is a whole new concept for some. All thoughts that we give dialogue to becomes a part of the minds chatter. When we give words to our minds thoughts it sometimes referred to as your inner dialogue. For most people who have not studied Yoga or other forms of meditation the notion of the minds silence may sound simple but quite another thing to do.

See how nature, trees, flowers, grass, – grow in silence. See the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence, we need silence to be able to touch souls. ~ Mother Teresa

PIQ Positive Imperative Question. Do you ever try and find silence. What has your experience been.

DAY 58 Today we are thankful for Love in the highest form.

In the highest form, love does not need words to express its being.

What the world needs now is love sweet love ~ Hal David

When we find it we are eternally grateful !

“Become loving. When you are in the embrace, become the embrace. Become the kiss. Forget yourself so totally that you can say, ‘I am no more. Only love exists.’ Then the heart is not beating, but love is beating. Then the blood is not circulating, but love is circulating. Then eyes are not seeing, love is seeing. Then hands are not moving to touch, love is moving to touch. Become love and enter everlasting life. Love suddenly changes your dimension. You are thrown out of time and you are facing eternity. Love can become a deep meditation, the deepest possible. Lovers have known sometimes what saints have not known.” ~ OSHO

Higher Love ~ Steve Winwood (Excerpt)

Wheres that higher love I keep thinking of?

Worlds are turning and were just hanging on
Facing our fear and standing out there alone
A yearning, and its real to me
There must be someone who’s feeling for me
Things look so bad everywhere
In this whole world, what is fair?
We walk blind and we try to see
Falling behind in what could be

Bring me a higher love

PIQ Positive Imperative Question Are you grateful for love? How will you show your love today?

DAY 57 Today we are thankful for Electricity. We often talk about the aspect of understanding and appreciating what you have by thinking about what it would be like not to have what we often take for granted. On August 13th 2003, many people living in the North East U.S. and Eastern Canada got a first hand idea of what it would be like. Do you remember that day?

August 14th 2003 New York and other cities looked like a Sci-fi film was being shot

August 14th 2003 New York and other cities looked like a Sci-fi film was being shot

One of “the” hottest days of the Summer, long traffic jams, no elevators, no stores or offices running and most people hoping to find a good sandwich to eat.. It was a great test of hospital generators and human patience alike as thousands of people either had to walk home or get stuck in grid lock for hours inching their way home.

Out attitude to blackouts.

Interestingly enough there’s quite a juxtaposition between August 14th 2003 when we had no choice on weather to deal with electricity vs. Earth Hour when we voluntarily turn off the lights for an hour, many of us with music or many other small electrical devices running in the background like cell phone chargers.

How we use something shows our respect and gratitude

Wise use of our electricity is our ultimate demonstration of our gratitude and respect for both electricity and it’s supply and demand and ultimately mother earth and our fellow human beings. We say so often with the Posithanks program that the negative of thanks is complaining and the ultimate neutral is to simply take things for granted….. there is likely no one part of our lives we take for granted than electricity. So today, let us give thanks to that every day luxury we take for granted and ultimately those who work so hard to keep it going in times of crisis and winter storms the hydro workers…(yes another Posithanks topic) but you can’t truly do one without the other. It’s like the simplicity of being thankful for peace with out being thankful for those that gave us peace.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question. Challenge yourself to actually count the number of contacts and uses of electricity for just one hour, or at a given time in one place. Then think about the number of times you can use some of this electricity more wisely by turning off a light or switching to an energy effective bulb.

What are some of the ways you show gratitude for the simple every day things in your life?

DAY 56 Today we are thankful for Service Dogs their trainers, handlers and owners who care for them.

We don’t need to know one or be in contact with one to be thankful they exist as they simply make our world a better place to be. Do you know some of the different types of service dogs?

Service Dogs The Famous

It doesn’t hurt to grow up with Lassie and the Littlest Hobo, and Rin Tin Tin to believe that service dogs are amazing. We have all seen a seeing eye dog at one point and likely that’s our first exposure. It is easy to see what a great companion they are and the many different ways they can be of service to their masters.

You know a police do is trained....when....

You know a police dog is trained....when....

I must admit…. I never miss an opportunity to use the picture above… I don’t know if it says more about the cat or the dogs but I never get tired of it. Definitely in my top ten.

Most of us have seen the canine units for our local police force and maybe even seen a police officer and German Sheppard walking through the airport or other location. Turner & Hootch is still my fave when it comes to the on screen role model but I have read sever examples of dogs and their bond with their police officers to understand that there is an amazing bond between them.

Service Dogs… the Not So Famous

One simple visit can mean so much

A few years ago, I was working with an accountant at KPMG named Cathy Forester on a committee for the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada, and in passing at the end of the meeting she mentioned she was off with her dog to visit a seniors home in the small town where she lived just outside of Toronto. I was fascinated with the whole notion of this volunteer work and asked many more questions about the volunteerism having been a big fan of dogs and devoted to seniors.

She told me of the different ladies she and her dog would visit and how one in particular that “came alive” eash and every visit. The nurses/care givers had told her many times how their weekly visit was the highlight of this ladies week as she had no other visitors. I thought to my self… wow, such a simple act of compassion that makes such a difference in one person’s life…. and isn’t that where all giving starts.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question. Do you appreciate the service does in your community and perhaps support a program for their handlers or people who raise them. Do you have a good tempered dog (they have cats too!) that you could take some time and visit with a seniors program in your area?

A hearty laughter a day keeps sickness at bay

DAY 54 Today we are thankful for laughing our way to a healthy heart!

“A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.”
— Irish Proverb

“A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.” — Author Unknown

Aside from the belief in our ability to heal from an illness, a good sense of humour and laughter can help in the road to recovery. It is often said that laughter is the best medicine. Did you know that a hearty laugh a day can ward off heart disease? According to a study done by a group of cardiologists at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, they discovered that heart attack sufferers generally laughed less, even in positive situations, and displayed more anger and hostility. In addition to regular exercise and proper nutrition, being in a positive frame of mind and laughter are keys to a healthy heart.

Dr.Patch Adams and child clowning around

Dr. Patch Adams, an American physician, believes love and compassion are an integral part of patient care. In fact, every year, he organizes a group of volunteers where they dress as clowns and bring joy to orphans, patients, and other people. In 1998 he also visited Bosnia, one of the Balkan Peninsula countries torn apart by the war that started after the break-up of Yugoslavia. In the same year, his work received greater recognition in the film “Patch Adams”, starring Robin Williams.

PIQ Positive Imperative Exercise.

Spread joy and laughter and attract more of it into your life!

Try this exercise for the next 21 days: stand in the front of the mirror and smile. Even if you are not initially in the mood, you may feel your mood and your whole body lighten up! When you we feeling joyous, in what ways can we spread joy and laughter like Dr. Patch Adams?

DAY 53 Today we are thankful for DOGS!

Our canine friends have always been know as man’s best friend. Most dog owners would agree with that at a moments notice. If you’re not a dog owner or lover you might have to stretch or wonder why we should even think of dogs as a universal thing to be thankful for, for everyone…. but it really is simple… do you know why?

My challenge for the blog entry will be to keep it brief… as I could likely fill a book about the wonderful things dogs have given humankind. As a dog owner most of my life, I am certainly biased and proudly so, because the five dogs (for past one current) have given me so much, I could never repay them. I am sure I speak for millions of dog owners when I say my dogs have given me, friendship/companionship loyalty, fun, some great stories, but most of all unconditional love.

Priceless !

Dogs are good for the work place. Many studies have concluded a healthier and more productive work environment with a dog around. Dog’s are especially great for young and old alike. Children and seniors seems to bond to dogs really well, and dogs seem to have a sixth sense when it comes to children and seniors as well. We will do a special tribute to service dogs in a future Posithanks. They are another reason we all need to be thankful for dogs. Seeing Eye Dogs, Police Dogs, Watch Dogs and most of all companion dogs.

“The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.” ~Samuel Butler

Dog make us smile, make us laugh, makes us happy and make us feel good. When they do all that it’s almost natural when we see a sad movie about does like Turner and Hootch or Marley and Me that make your cry….. and that’s okay too! The world would not be as wonderful as it is without dogs…. and we are thankful for them.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question…. Did you know that how we treat our dogs also falls into Positive Neutral and Negative? It’s easy to know when we’re being good to dogs…. and we won’t go into being bad to them, but what about being Neutral. Has life in the fast lane given your dog the back seat? Do you not give him/her as much attention as you should, not enough walks, petting,, outings…. they get lonely too. Is your relationship with your dog… reciprocal an even give and take….? Have you taken him/her to a dog park lately….? ever….?

DAY 52 Today we are thankful for Spring Fever

Everyone has their favourite time of the year. Sping is the best time for a lot of people simply because it signifies the beginning part of the cycle of life. Like most things that we come to know well, we also take it for granted. Have you taken spring for granted yet?

Spring fever for those of us in the northern climate means the time of year where we can put away the snow shovel, the boots, the many winter coats, the salt for the driveway and my favourite thing to put away the snow brush for the car. It also mean the time to start getting out more seasonable clothes, the lawn mower and for the garden enthusiasts a whole new batch of plants and flowers.

Some of the best things you can do in the spring is to simply go to a conservation area or a regional park and enjoy the plant and wildlife. It is always an amazing site when you can see some of the first buds on plants and trees.

A yearly event around this neck of the woods is the Canada Geese with their offspring. Every morning that I go for a bike ride in the spring I can almost count on seeing a number of sets of parents of geese proudly showing off their new family, always watching and always herding. The chicks of course are running around in bliss. I set my bike down by the bench and just watch and for some reason never get tired of watching. There is something very calming watching the unfolding of life and holding a special reverence for what you are privileged to see.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question. Are their parts of Spring you’ve been too busy too see. Is there something you can plan this weekend to enjoy and be thankful for Spring Fever !

DAY 51 Today we are thankful for the rain.

You don’t have to be a farmer in a drought to be thankful for rain. However when you’re in 3 or more consecutive days of rain and you can actually be thankful for rain you are building a reservoir and resource that is stronger than you can imagine. Do you put limitations on your life by rain?

Where we’re at with rain.

We’ve all seen a movie where there has been a long drought and when the rain finally came there was rejoicing. Perhaps it was a movie where the people were lost in the desert and it finally rained. On the other hand we are also trained that pop song by the Carpenters from the 70s says “Rainy Days and Mondays” …always gets me down. So we start to associate rainy days with words like gloomy, down, yucki and other more scientific words I’m sure.

Do you limit your life by rain.

Do we limit our children because of our attitudes about rainy days?

Do we limit our children because of our attitudes about rainy days?

So there’s the I’m feeling down because of rain. What about those days where we govern our life by rain. ” Oh darn we planned a bike ride and it’s raining…. oh well maybe another day…. I guess I’ll watch some TV instead” Obviously I’m not advocating bikes rides when it’s raining like cats and dogs…hmm strange expression… but I am advocating that out of the 100 days of rain 80 to 90 of them are mostly drizzle and light rain for most of it…. and guess what…. you won’t melt :>) Truth in fact when I was training from my MS Rona Bike ride last year and I committed to a long ride every Sunday I kept to it… and when the rainy days came I threw on a poncho and away I went…. and a funny thing happened I still had fun… as a matter of fact some of my best rides were those rainy days. When I was having so much fun, I could not but notice that the trails were sparse with riders and that so many people were missing out on all the fun.

The disconect of rainy days.

Isn’t it ironic that we can understand and live the words of Positivity with expressions like “Give Your Self A Self Imposed Limitation and it’s yours” or if you say you can, you can and if you say you can’t you can’t…you’re always right. Set the bar high and the list goes on.

The disconnect comes when many of us who try and live by those platitudes also say things like Rainy Days & Mondays get me down and then govern how we feel and then if we stay at home looking out into the rain and don’t go out.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question.

As always the choice is yours and how you exercise it will eventually train you and your brain on how to respond to life.

More of this…. Singin’ In The Rain – Gene Kelly or Less of that….Rainy Days & Mondays – Carpenters

Are there often times when you govern both your thoughts and actions because of circumstances like rain? Do you see the opportunity to change your attitude and behaviour. What are you going to do the next time it rains……. be thankful or complain…..

365 Days Of Gratitude. Your daily program of thanks.

DAY 50 Today we are thankful for the Posithanks program. I am grateful for our readers. Your comments are most appreciated and are a source of inspiration.

***I think this post is worth 2 days :>) Victor Sinclair) :>)

How can the Posithanks program change our lives?

When I began to give thanks everyday for at least one small thing, I did notice a change in myself. I began by giving thanks for the random things like the bus showing up on time, to heartfelt sentimental things like being greeted by my grandmother’s smile in the morning. As I consistently gave thanks everyday, it multiplied to giving thanks for many things throughout the day. The reward was a complete shift in my energy to one that is positive and uplifting.

Unfortunate events still happen but they do not hang over me with the same weight as before, because giving thanks has motivated to find at least one thing to be grateful for during bleak times. For example, when my grandfather was in the hospital earlier this year, I was so grateful how our family pulled together. Even more, I was grateful for giving him thanks for raising me and letting him know how much I love him. In doing this, I felt a sense of completion in knowing that he knows how I feel about him and still do! He’s such a clown!

Consider that our thoughts generate a vibration that your mind sends out into the world, and that vibration will resonate with similar energies on the same level. Imagine our thoughts are like magnets that attract more or less the same thing. According to Dr. Christiane Northup, author of Mother-Daughter Wisdom, she says, “Feeling grateful or appreciating someone in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate or value into your life.” As your thoughts of gratitude increases, notice how much you multiply your blessings, small or big, the magnitude is the same. As I once learned, what we focus on expands. Charles Dickens, author of marvellous timeless literary pieces such as A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations, shares, “Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”

Positive Imperative Action for the Day

For the next 21days, create a conscious effort to be grateful for at least one thing, small or big, from being greeted with a fresh cup of coffee in the morning, to simply being able to breath, to appreciating your health and being able to get up each day. As you perform this action repeatedly, it can become a habit; a habit that can enhance our ability to live authentically.

I wish you much love, peace, and happiness, and many thoughts of gratitude to uplift you throughout the day.

Many blessings,

Sharon Torrenueva

DAY 49 Today we are thankful for having positive self-esteem in ourselves.

“No one talks to me because I’m not pretty enough.”
“I feel so big compared to everybody else.”
“I’m too fat. I would be more popular if I was thinner.”

Hearing this conversation amongst a group of pre-adolescence girls in the school yard where my cousin attends alarmed me. These negative scripts brought me back to my own years of growing pains in my teens (a period in my life that I am relieved is over!). If these negative scripts were left unrecognized and neglected, how would it affect these girls in years to come? If they did not feel positive self-esteem or positive self-worth, what would fill in that space? Has the beauty and entertainment industry set unrealistic standards for young girls today? Images splattered across magazines create a distorted view of beauty and also fail to recognize the beauty inside us.
I am grateful for Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty, a program that aims to challenge beauty stereotypes and transform self-limiting perceptions into a broader and positive definition of beauty. In fact, their short yet powerful film, “Evolution” reveals a behind-the-scenes look that transforms a regular woman into a knockout beauty. Besides hours of hair and make-up, airbrushing and photo retouching are also done to the model’s photograph to create the final look.

Imagine your mind as a computer, and the dialogue that you have with yourself is the program. It is possible that in a given day, we run hundreds or even thousands of different programs in our mind. Some of these programs run consciously through our minds. I would estimate that the majority of these programs run unconsciously through our minds. We are not aware of them but these programs impact our level of self-worth and reflect the quality of our lives.

To watch the short film, “Evolution,” go to www.campaignforrealbeauty.ca

PIQ Positive Imperative Question

What are some of the mental programs running through your mind? Is it negative or positive self-talk? As you become more aware of the mental scripts that you run through your mind, is there something you can add to the script to bring yourself closer to the highest vision of yourself?

DAY 48 Today we are grateful for math.

Most of us know that math is in almost everything we do. Math has also been said to be one of the subjects that is used to illustrate the difference between left brain and right brain people. We also develop early attitudes towards math that we take with us for the rest of our lives, and sometime they don’t serve us so well?

Math doesn't have to complex or like rocket science

Math doesn't always have to be complex or rocket science

Our attitude sets the stage.

Most of us decide if we are good at math or not at an early age. As life went on another milestone for some of us was the distinction between arithmetic and math and falling out of the picture when algebra or geometry came into play. For the large majority of people the answer becomes we’re not, and the resulting outcome is that we approach math with a negative attitude. While its not likely that you’re going to get people with artistic minds to embrace math for music or art as an example, the middle ground is likely to be open and to and appreciate math. For children, much of their attitude towards learning math is actually set by the stage their parents bring to the subject and how well they embrace the subject.

Most of us know that math is responsible for much of what we do and touch in our every day lives. The very houses and buildings we are in is a function of math. Our hospitals and the ability to travel on any transportation system or run a computer or cell phone can all be traced back to math. It’s in our lives everywhere, but when the subject comes up, most of us shut down.

Math "can" be humourus

Gratitude is the attitude.

A first step in setting the stage of open mindedness for a positive attitude in math is to first start by appreciating it. What we have gratitude for we have an acceptance for and what we have an acceptance for opens our minds and lets us become receptive to the subject and quite often our level of interest soon follows. It is yet another example of the power of the Posithanks program setting the stage to take it on!

A great web site for kids and math that is fun!

DAY 47 Today we are grateful for Guideposts!

Guideposts come in many shapes and sizes, can be seen or not, in water or not, measure great distances or simply be the great things you learned from your parents. They also can relate to you values that you’ve identified. Have you ever thought about guideposts as a form of Pay It Forward?

On the roadmap of life there are countless destinations and just as many routes to get to them. The destination to these road maps can also be deemed to be our goals, ambitions, dreams, visions and mission. Without getting too sidetracked, one paradigm is that life is a journey and destinations are really milestones and quite often reached by following the many guideposts along the route for which we are very thankful for.

The Roadmap of life has many markers and many signs that you can see.

They come in many shapes and sizes with many names. There are trail guides, channel markers, signposts and milestone. They guides us in unknown territories so that we may both arrive safe and to our determined destination. When one starts to really be thoughtful about guideposts, there is a whole dimension of continuity and pay it forward. Most people who created the guideposts do not create them for themselves but rather for those who follow. Guideposts you see are really a form of Pay It Forward. Those that chart the ways, routes and create the maps of uncharted territories, who have boldly gone where no one has gone before? When you see a guidepost like the one here created in Cartier National park which likely was made decades and decades if not a century or more, you know that someone spent the time to create a place to both give people their bearings and show them which way to go to their destinations.

Unseen guidposts that can be felt and do not need to be seen.

Values that are handed down by generations and across by friends and family are also guideposts in life. They too are just as often made to be a road map created for you and when they are taught or shared the person passing them on or paying it forward already know the road map of those values and really don’t need to use the map to navigate. Of course the wise teachers know that these value maps are lifelong journeys to which there in no true final destination, and therefor also know that as they teach they learn a deeper understanding of the value as well.

Guidepost Come in many shapes and sizes.

Guideposts can take the form of a Posithanks program, or a positive song that reminds us to stay the course and be thankful for the things that were given to us and as Oprah so often says… keep our feet firmly planted on the ground.

Good Mother ~ Jann Arden a nice video version

“i’ve got money in my pocket
i like the colour of my hair
ive got a friend who loves me
got a house, ive got a car
ive got a goooddd mother
and her voiice is what keeps me here”

"You don't know what you got 'til its gone" (Big Yellow Taxi) Sometimes the best way to really appreciate things is to imagine a world with no guideposts!

PIQ Positive Imperative Question.

Are there guideposts that you can implement in your life. Are their guideposts you can share and teach someone in your life.

DAY 46 Today we are grateful for vision.

Vision is the picture one is brought when they have clarity of mind and purpose. Stephen Covey also put it in the Principle Begin With The End In Mind…. Do you have a vision?

Vision is the fuel of life!

Storyboards and Posiminders are both great tools to help you achieve your destination. It is obvious that the destination is essential in having a higher purpose and direction. Without vision we are operating at a level of simplicity that can border on the mountain. To have a vision or be a part of a vision is to put fuel in you, just like a car, but it also turns that fuel into hi-octane.

To be grateful for vision and also to those who have had vision, be they Ghandi, Geroge Washington, Abraham Lincoln, or Martin Luther King is to understand that as humans we are connected to a higher purpose for that is truly one of the great things in the potential of humanity.

Nelson Mandela understood vision, and when he did and was able to convey that vision it became a collective vision. During his 27-Year imprisonment he wrote at length about how visualization helped him keep his sanity. “I though continually of the day I would be free”.

Nelson Mendela had many visions.

“It is a terrible thing to see and have no vision.”

Helen Keller

DAY 45 Today we are grateful for Visionboards.

You may not have hear of them, or you may use them, they are another phenomenon that helps you with Posiminders. In today’s hectic world anything that helps us with focus is going to be an aid to our sucess. We have way too many distractions.

Do you know why race horses wear blinders?

Race horses and blinders

Vision boards helps your to focus on what you do want!

Vision boards helps your to focus on what you do want!

Race horses wear blinders for two reasons. Firstly it’s important to understand that primates, like man and apes are the only creatures that have bifocal vision. We see one picture collectively, horses and other animals see two separate and dis-joined pictures. It explains the term dogie trail when trotting their body is pitched on a slight angle, so they see with their lead or strongest eye. You’ve heard the advice …never walk up behind a horse, as you may spook them and get kicked? That’s why.

So horses wear blinders to remove distractions in a race… ie: the other horses coming up from behind, as their natural tendency would be to cut them off and start to go sideways and also simply because it helps them keep focused on where the jockey wants them to go.

Posminders do that for us too. They remove distractions and help us focus on what we want. Vision Boards are simply a compilation of the best of what we want made into one picture. It’s more about a direction, so that in fact its not just one thing we want, rather several different ones… a happy family, good health, that car you’ve been working for etc. it’s a way to visualize your goals as well.

Erin Blaskie has created a vision board of the things that are important to her.

Law Of Displacement

A core tactic of the Positive Imperative is always to implement the law of displacement. The more you fill your glass with positivity, the less room it has for….well you know :>)

Here’s an example of how to make a vision board from Ottawa media talent Erin Blaskie

PIQ Positive Imperative Question. Are there some vision boards you would like to make? What would you put in them?

DAY 44 Today we are grateful for Posiminders, and yes we haven’t used it as a Posiword yet.

In context we are taking time to be thankful for things that that keep us positively focused. What could they be and why are they important? Good question.

So we all remember as a child, the story about putting a string around our finger to remember something that we had to do, like going to the store after we went out to play. Whether we actually did it or not, that was a small example of memory systems and why they are so important for us to use tools to keep our mind focused. As we all know the moment we don’t…. whoosh. Our minds are diverted by any of the many possible diversion be they tv, our black berry or some strange add or message in an e-mail or web site.

Posiminders have been around for a while…. the reason the word is so important, is that it starts the conversation on why everything from a Positive Bracelet (which both promotes a cause and reminds us ie; Yellow for cancer) helps keeps us in touch with our thoughts and their focus.

Posiminder can be anything from your family picture where you see it constantly to hanging a dreamcatcher in a window or on a wall that inspires you. Many of us of course have adapted the many variations of motivational posters for our walls and or quotable quotes etc. Well I think you get the picture…. we’ll actually make this a two day topic as tomorrow we’ll tip our hand by doing vision boards tomorrow.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question What are some of the things and ideas you can put into your environment to create positive space and help you relect upon what’s important to you and what you would like to focus on more of.

Please share with us some of the things you use as Posiminders.

365 Days Of Gratitude. Your daily program of thanks

day 43 Today we are grateful for temporal moments.

I am grateful for sharing this past Sunday afternoon with my cousin and my brother. Now that life has calmed down for a bit, we are sharing more time with each other. Eventually each of us will lead a life that will take us on a different journey, and temporarily separating us for some time. Where will the path lead?

Perhaps one of us will choose to relocate to another city to advance our career, or decide to pursue further studies elsewhere, or gain a lifetime partner to walk beside us in this adventure called life, or even become parents to our own children one day.
On the bright side, a deep bond has been forged between the three of us. I am also grateful for our bond because no matter where our lives takes us or how long we are apart, we can talk as if we saw each other just yesterday. I believe this could be said about all great relationships and friendships. The bond transcends time.

Over lunch, we also reflected upon our hardships or otherwise what we affectionately called our growing pains. What amazed each of us is we got through it! There were moments where we thought we would not see tomorrow. But we are still here; still breathing; still alive, and still very much continuing to live our lives to the fullest!

As my grandmother tells me, life flows in a cycle. sometimes you’re up, and sometimes you’re down. She says, “When you’re up, be grateful. When you’re down, be grateful.” “Huh?” I reply. “Neither one lasts forever,” she answers, “Be appreciative when hard lessons are learned because wisdom teaches you not only how to live but also how to be. Be grateful when happiness flows into your life so you can share it with others.”

PIQ Positive Imperativbe Question

When we are experiencing troubles in our life, do we naturally focus on the bleakness?
What if we were to change our frequency to the vibration of gratitude? Would we notice a change in our energy? Would we notice our energy attracting more positivity into our lives? Would our experience of this hardship change because we have shifted our focus?

With gratitude,

DAY 42 Today we are thankful for fun! POSIVALUE # 30

Fun goes hand in hand with joy, which is fundamental to both humanity and positivity. Why is this seemingly benign topic so critically important? Well while having fun and living with joy makes so much obvious sense most of us have a really tough time doing it. Why is that you ask?

LIFE IS HARD AND THEN YOU DIE! – Do you have incongruent values?

Sometimes even when we're supposed to be having fun, our composure tells quite a different story.

It has often said humans have to prime motivating factors…… to move away from pain, and towards pleasure…… it’s also been put this way…… our two prime motivating factors is to be seen to be looking good, (pleasure) and not to be seen looking bad (Pain). The first time I heard that last line it was in a course of Landmark Forum, and it really got me thinking when you match that statement with some of the negative driving forces of the human ego, it expains so much of human behaviour.

So often much of our behaviour is based upon what we think people will think of us, and it governs so much of our time to try and look cool, to try and drive the right car, to say the right things, to do what people should be doing in the right circumstances……. it can almost take over our lives, as we’re not thinking about life and what we want or should be doing… we’re thinking more about what people are saying or worse the paranoisa of what we think they’re thinking about us, which of course most of the time is far from reality.

So what has this got to do with the art of funology, and having fun and living with joy. Simple most of the time WE LIVE OUR LIVES BY ILLUSIONARY CIRCUMSTNACES AND WE DON’T GIVE OURSELVES PERMISSION TO HAVE FUN AND BE JOYFUL!!! We are at work, with a serious boss or coworkers who believe work is hard and if you’re having fun, you must not be working hard, because work is tough and if you’re not having the same headache as they are you must be slacking. We have parents, teachers and friends with that value and pigeonhole fun and joy into a little compartment called playtime, going on vacation or the fair…. and maybe the movies but that’s about it.

BAD NEWS AND FUN.

Vancouver's Funcamp designs a program of fun for inner city kids to help eliviate their stressful lives

With all the negative news in the world, of famine, gang violence and ethnic violence there is a part of us that can’t reconcile having fun, while others are in pain, and truly for me that’s been a very powerful force on me personally. Part of it is because my mind is sometimes not in the present, but dwelling on those circumstances that need to be changed, be they world circumstances, our communities or mine. The truth of the matter is, that often is the case, that there is no realy action or solutions going on, but moreover a missing of the present where there is every reason to live with joy and put in fun with everything you do. It’s a question of balance. Obviously we need to be respectful and referent in the face of pain and tragedy, but we also need to bring happiness, joy and a sense of fun where possible and most of the time it IS possible, which of course is the important lesson that the real life Dr. Patch Adams gave thousands of kids with cancer and other illness, many of which were terminal. We can either face life with gloom and despair which we need less of…. or respond to life with hope, courage joy and the art… no make that science of FUNOLOGY!

WHAT IS FUNOLOGY!

It’s the art of having fun and being the instigator of that fun which is of course being a FUNOLOGIST (our two Posiwords for the week). See how this positive synergy works. 1pos + 1pos + 1pos = 6Positives. Giving yourself and your children the permission to have fun becomes a fundamental positive value which is why we have selected it as #30 on our Posivalue List.

a) Don’t watch the news or read the papers, I find it to be manipulated and for all the Positive features the Negative features outnumber them considerably. I focus on inspired reading by incredible spirits.
b) concentrate on the positive attributes that a person holds
c) believe that life is about meeting people and sharing and thank those like the creators of Facebook for shrinking the globe to allow us to stay in touch with our like-minded brothers and sisters globally.
d) love passionate, positive people and choose to embrace their freindship.

THE POSITIVE IMPERATIVE SOLUTION!

It has been scientifically proven you can’t be mad or angry when you’re laughing. It stands to reason that this is part of the law of displacement…. fill your cup with love or hate, forgiveness or resentment, despair or fun and joy….. or fill it with nothing at all….. life in the Neutral.

PIQ Positive Imperativbe Question

Is there a part of your life, where you have taken on the notion that life is hard, that your response to life has no choice but to be part of the choir singing the notions gloom and doom, bad economy, smog days, not time, no money and therefor of course… no fun! Start by watching the movie Patch Adams again…. if you haven’t already… it will help give you permission to be a funologist and spread fun, even in the worst of situations. Ask yourself what things am I don’t to do today to have FUN! Play with a child… play with your spouce, post a good humour joke at school or listen to an infectiously positive song like Great Big Sea’s “When I’m Up I Can’t Get Down” ‘Cause I’m too busy having FUN! Will you leave your footprint of fun?

DAY 41 Today we are thankful for acts of kindness.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only things that ever has.“ Margaret Mead

“No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.“ Aesop

I am thankful for the acts of kindness I received this past Monday. Coming off weekend mode, I woke up a bit groggy. On that morning, I was greeted by the bumper to bumper traffic, the sensation of being squeezed like sardines in a can on the subway train, and the growling from my stomach. I rushed out of the house that morning that I didn`t have time
for breakfast. Ok, I slept in. Ooops. So…

“He who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.“ St. Basil (330-379), Greek religious leader

The tune changed when I made my first step into Barry`s classroom. On that day I was taking an introductory class in Dreamweaver. Soft jazz music filled the air and thankfully, soothed my nerves from the morning commute, and then my spirits were up! He greeted me with a cheery hello and offered me to help myself to a bagel. For a relatively large class, I appreciated his earnest effort to get to know everyone`s name. According to Dale Carnegie, a person`s name is the sweetest song to their ears. Talking with him was like talking to a dear friend.

“Kind word can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless.“ Mother Teresa

“Kindess gives birth to kindess.“ Sophocles (447 BC)

A great teacher is someone who reassures their students the belief in their own potential. Although the class expressed challenges in grasping the material, he would continue to support and enhance our learning. As they say, people may not remember what we say but they will undoubtedly remember how they felt after what we say.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single minute before starting to improve the world.“ Anne Frank

“Kindness is the essence of greatness and the fundamental characteristic of the noblest men and women I have known. Kindness is a passport that opens doors and fashion friends. It softens hearts and molds relationships that can last lifetimes.“ Joseph B. Wirthlin

“One of the most difficult things to give away is kindness; it usually comes back to you.“ Author Anonymous

PIQ Positive Imperative Question

Reflecting upon the past month, the past week, or the past day, where do you recognize moments where you received an act of kindness? How did you feel aft erward? Were you radiating positive energy and noticed a difference when you were interacting with others from that point? In what ways can we extend this kindness to others?

DAY 40 Today we are thankful for different ways of being able to show our gratitude. As we become more thoughful and creative in our displays of gratitude we also begin to master the art of gratitutde. Here’s something you can pass on to someone who you love.

The Internet has given us many things to be thankful for. Some elements of e-mails like chain letters with good or bad consequences, if you do or don’t pass on the e-mail or wishes are definitely open to debate. However some of the best messages and ideas have no conditions, they simply have a special wish they want to share. The following poem does so with a great perspective on gratitude.

What I’m Thankful For

The mess to clean up after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends.

The taxes I pay because it means that I’m employed.

The clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat.

My shadow who watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine.

The spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking.

All the complaining I hear about our government because it means we have freedom of speech.

That lady behind me in church who sings off key because it means that I can hear.

The piles of laundry and ironing because it means my loved ones are nearby.

The lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.

My huge heating bill because it means that I am warm.

Weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means that I have been productive.

The alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I am alive.

I am thankful for you because it means that I am loved.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question

Who can you cut and paste the above gratittude poem and pass it on to. What are some of the creative ways you can say thank you to a person in your life that takes action? Mow their lawn, run an erin, write a poem, call them up…. okay… last one is not as creative but if you haven’t talked to them in a while, it still works!

365 Days Of Gratitude. Your daily program of thanks

DAY 39 Today we are thankful for a change of pace, when you are thankful for a change of pace you have a sure sign that the Posithanks program is working. What`s that sign you ask?

Being thankful for a change of pace for me, is really more about attitutde then anything else as well as conditioning.

POSITHANKS HELPS MOLD YOUR ATTITUDE.

So this topic came about on an everyday event, that all of us have run into at one time or another where a routine gets change a little simply by circumstances. In this case I had told myself yesterday to get milk on the way home from the ball game. Strangely enough, even though driving my daughter and son-in-law to the grocery store on the way home, I didn`t remember, so here I am drinking my coffee black. However there was a time very recently, where I would have been in a negative mindset and it would have “set me off“ quote on quote…. not in a big way, but still in a quick grumpy ugg, and I was actually surpised at the quick and effortless attitude approch which was…hmm, black…. that`ll be different, today I`ll actually taste the coffee aroma.

A change of pace could be a small thing like drinking black coffee or a days new activity like going for a hot air balloon ride

A change of pace could be a small thing like drinking black coffee or a days new activity like going for a hot air balloon ride

POSITHANKS HELP CONDITION YOU TO GRATITUDE AND HAPPINESS

So the other part of the reaction what the aha factor, which is happening more and more which is that simple…aha… it`s working… Posithanks is actually working as I know I wouldn`t have even had that reaction a few months ago. It`s actually one of the ten benefits we have listed on the importance of the program…. but as we all know, sometimes there`s a big gap between theory and actually working, and you know when it actually works on the proponent of the program there becomes an even bigger aha ! :.)

Change of Pace

A change of pace for me used to be the name of a coffee house, and now has grown to embrace new and different things like an occaisional black coffee, and gets me to relect upon other thinks like a time when a lady offered me water while waiting for an appointment and then brought me warm water like tea, and startled me, but when I drank it, actually soothed me as well as surprised me. A change of pace is always a good thing when it gets to to reflect and also live in the now.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question

What change of paces can you actually engage in your life, and start doing things a little different. What part of Posithanks would start to condition you and get you in the routine of being thankful for all your circumstances?

Good service is sometimes at best a 2 out of 3 scenario

Good service is sometimes at best a 2 out of 3 scenario65 Days Of Gratitude. Your daily program of thanks

DAY 38 Today we are thankful for good service.

Good service was a standard many years ago and is still

found in parts of the service industry, however it far too many places it’s lacking. When good service is found it is welcome and hopefully rewarded with the appropriate thank you… but not always?

Many time when we get good service or extraordinary service we think we’ve won the lottery as so often in today’s hustle bustle world it beomes the exception rather than the rule.

Cora`s family restaurant

Cora`s family restaurant

The past weekend we all went out to my wifes favourite place for breakfast, a Canadian success story of sorts to a restaurant called Coras founded by Quebec entrepreneur Cora Tsouflidou. We were please when a staff member came out with a fruit drink for those standing in the 45 minute line. We were also pleased at the quick service, good food and reasonable prices. We were also please for our waiter Laura`s service and the fact that she brough my grandaughter a new beverage at not charge after she spilled it. We were still pleased at recieving a $5 voucher for any moms in our party of which we had two. Not all of that may seem normal to you, but we certainly didn`t find that to be the case. Good service is certainly subjective to some degree, but in this case with our party of six it was unanimous.

Looks like a long boxing day lineup for door crashers. Were not sure of hot Apple Sider was or wasn`t served

Looks like a long boxing day lineup for door crashers. Were not sure of hot Apple Sider was or wasn`t served

Now one can think of many other scarios where business doesn`t always respond with service to gratitue for their customer and what may be a long lineup to get in or to pay at the cash register etc. Sometimes businesses and their staff take their customers for granted especially the larger stores that have a high volume of business. It almost becomes a right of passage. I can think of a scenario at Christmas with a large department store you had to step over and around boxes there were so many in the isles.

So the other issue becomes how we respond to good service. Do we take the time to tell the manager when there is great service. Many of us will get the manager at the drop of a hat when it comes to poor service. This fact is another reinforcement of the Positive Imperative principle number 2. It`s easy to complain or do a negative…. it takes some effort at time to fill our a customer satisfaction survey and actually learn the name of the person who served you. Granted not that much effort, but certainly more than it does to complain. When we do take the time to compliment as Dale Carnigie use to say, we give people a reputation to live up to instead of reinforcing negative behaviour which is so often the maner of a consumer complaint.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question The Better Business Bureau will tell you the ratio of complaints to complients about service is about an 8 to one ratio. For some reason we always have the time to complain but rarely do we go too far out of our way to pass on a compliment. Do you take the time?

DAY 37 TODAY WE ARE THANKFUL FOR MENSCHES.

Mensch is a Yiddish term for individuals who exemplify admirable integrity and honour.

A mensch is someone who helps as many people as they can without expecting anything in return, but rather, they derive great satisfaction in the joy of giving. They also feel strongly about making a meaningful contribution to society, or in other words, giving back.

Inayat Habib

Inayat Habib

When you are on fire, people will come to watch you burn! Since 2008 Inayat Habib has been an unstoppable force in helping the people of his native Afghanistan. In 1998 Habib came to Canada as a political refugee. The families are in dire need of help. This past March marks Habib’s second trip home. He and two other volunteers hand-delivered small sums of money to aid families in this time of political unrest and strife. Municipal street workers in Kabul earn less $50 CDN per month. In Bamyan, women, who lost their senses in the war, and orphans were taught how to make furniture and other skills.

Why would these individuals risk their lives? When we serve a cause that is greater than ourselves, it ceases to become about us. Compassion is born out of suffering; in that space, we can feel empathy for another person’s sorrow. This act of altruism is a reflection of the selfless love and devotion these volunteers feel for the beloved people of Afghanistan.

DAY 36 TODAY WE ARE THANKFUL FOR BEING COURAGEOUS.

Do you ever feel like you are living your life in a strait jacket?

When I am asked how would I describe my father, I reply, ““He’s never boring!” Just telling it like it is. No other answer will do. No other answer could capture the essence of who he is, and that is, his courage to live life beyond the four walls called safety and security. My listeners are befuddled, not knowing what to make of my answer. Having said that, don’t expect him to retire in a reclining chair, watching the evening news or reading the newspaper anytime soon. Too tame!

He’s always been the child sitting in the classroom who stares out the window, eyes gazing far ahead, wondering what’s out there. He’s looking for the next adventure and he has a lifetime of stories to back it up. He’s always had his childlike awe and wonder for life.
“Better to live life having done everything you wanted to do rather than waste it regretting what you should have done or could have done,” my father advises. His true sense of security lies in his confidence in his own abilities and in a power far greater than himself. If he had any doubts, he rarely wore it on his face. Give up? Not a chance. He understood that it is far better to meet our fears head on rather than run away. Or else spend a lifetime being chased down by our fears; and that fear having power over us.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question

Think back to a moment when you felt on top of the world when you conquered your fear? Now hold on to that feeling. Great! Can you use this emotion to propel you forward; moving you forward to the best possible vision of your life.

DAY 35 TODAY WE ARE THANKFUL FOR BEING PLAYFUL!

An opportunity to be grateful for the simple things in life came to me yesterday afternoon. Rather than enjoy the glorious sunshine, I chose to busy myself with household chores. While I scurried across the floors and zipped through the hallways, my ten years young cousin, Tara, tugged my shirt, stopped me in my tracks, and urged me to come play outside. Before the words, “Not now. I’m busy. Maybe later,” slipped past my lips, I remembered Victor’s gratitude reminder for appreciating the simple things in life so I agreed to tag along with my cousin.

She brought me back to being a kid again. Pure joy. All smiles. Being fun-loving and playful. Not having a care in the world. I enjoyed being completely immersed in the moment and just enjoying ourselves, each other’s company, and imagining and discovering all the games we could create. So I was the only adult going down slides, climbing up nets, and swinging on the swings. Was I afraid to look silly? Yes, for a brief second. Did I have fun? ABSOLUTLEY YES! I played until my heart’s content!

It felt so liberating to not feel being tied to a schedule or chase the clock.

It was a beautiful afternoon, as country singer Mac Davis says, to “stop and smell the roses.” A precious gift of this day was simply being in her company. What a sight to see her smile! I am grateful for the moments where we can simply share our selves and our time with the people we love.

DAY 34 Today we are thankful for the simple things in life!

Now what exactly are the simple things….. well that’s very subjective of course. We will all have our own idea of what the simple things are, but looking for and finding them and taking the time to enjoy them will embody that whole saying that Country Singer Mac Davis used to remind us to live and enjoy the now.

STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES ~ Mac Davis or Life In The Fast Lane ~ Eagles.

More of this and Less of That…. even though I do like both songs. :>)

Life in the fast lane is too often the norm today…. not enough time, not enough energy…. to much too do, busy busy busy. It has been the driving factor for songs like Cats in the Cradel, and Living Years by Mike & The Mechanics, both of which talk about lost opportunities…… the latter being so impactful… I wished I told in in the living years”. So say in now….say it loud…. But as the song says don’t miss the opportunity.

The simple things in life are a stroll in the park, a simple smile, curling up with a good book, playing with a child, and yes to stop and smell the roses. It’s simply enjoying the everyday things in life which of course is a big dimension of the Posithanks program.

Do you need a different perspective?

Michael J. Fox did a special on his book Always Looking Up, and went litteraly around the world asking people about positivity and happiness. Interestingly enough, it was the people in Berma that have it all figured out…. they enjoy everything all the time. They don’t need technology, they especially don’t need TV, rather they enjoy all of the simple things in life and live gratitude each and every day. Can we learn something from that?

This website is perfect for those who love the simple things. Created by Author Tracey McBride it host a wealth of ideas on what she calls “Frugal Luxuries”.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question.

Are you running around with your head chopped off…not enough time, too much to do…. is it time to reevaluate lifes priorities? You can start by commiting to notice and take the time to enjoy five simple things in life… what are they going to be?

Stop And Smell The Roses (excerpt)
Mac Davis

Before you went to work this morning in the city
Did you spent some time with your family
Did you kiss your wife and tell her that she’s pretty
Did you take your children to your breast and love them tenderly

I am not by any means the social networking expert….. I use Facebook and recently Twitter and have used LinkIn for about four years. It really has become such a part of my life that I would have to really go through my outlook and phone lists to go really figure out how many people I have struck up friendships with through social networking site.

I was a sceptic about Social Networking sites for dating, much less marriage. I had one of the old misconceptions that people had to meet “naturally” and face to face, especially with all the negative aspects of fraud and the Internet, however having had two members of my family use Lavalife or a similar network and have great success I am a convert. Both indiviuals are happily married and have found a very special someone. Though both had to overcome the “social stigma” that I and others brought to the notion of Internet dating, they both provided not only evidence but a logical conversation on the opportunity to meet people, find things in common, create friendship and then go to the next steps of physical attractions, and as I just mention… the proof is in the pudding. :>)

That’s really what I am thankful for too. From finding friends with common interests in Positive Music, to Making A Difference, it is truly a medium which has shrunk our global community and started so many conversations that never would have or could have just a few years ago…… so while social networking sites get their fair share of negative press, I’d like to throw out some cudos and thanks, because at the end of the day I know they have made the world a more connected and therefore better place in which to life.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question. Are you making the most of the opporutnity of social networking? Have you joined any groups and causes….. Facebook is a great place to start as they have thousands of groups to choose from, and that’s only one site! :>) If you participate in social networking have you taken the oppotunity to grow the world and share positive opportunities and important causes?

DAY 32 Today we are thankful for children who inspire us! However sometimes when we get inspired by children it just might give us a dose of reality and even possibly make us use that information in the wrong way. What’s the difference when a child inspires you ask?

It’s really great when children inspire us, but if we’re not careful we can use it in a negative capacity. Quite often it can make us reflect on the lack of effort or even results we have had in the same capacity. This may actually be the case with the inspiring story of a nine year old boy who has raised $3,200 for the care of unborn children in his community. You see that’s more than most adults have raised in their lives and unfortunately human nature quite often makes us compare ourselves to others and of course when you do and find you’re inferior to that which you have compared yourself to and that somone is a child then you can shut down and give up. Of course that’s the wrong way to respond and very negative. Other’s may never start raising money and live in the land of the neutral for the same reason, thinking they will never keep up with this 9 year old wonder boy.

The True Gift is that when a child does so much it really reminds us of the power of each and every one of us

The True Gift is that when a child does so much it really reminds us of the power of each and every one of us

Wonder boy or simply boy extraordinaire?

Well the wonderboy part comes from his maturity to take on something and have the wisdom to understand the cause he’s reaising his money for which is well beyond his years to try and make an impact in his community at such a young age and take it on himeslf. Wow, that inspires me a lot. On the other hand perhaps wonderboy is the wrong label to use because he is at the end of the day really doing a simple thing…. looking at a problem and saying to himself what am I going to do about it, and then doing it….. quite simple isn’t it…. but still quite extraordinairy for a nine year old boy and we are indeed greatful for his contribution and his inspiration.

For the complete story and to give him support for the second year of his walk, got to “Brandondonwalkoflife.com”

PIQ Positive Imperative Question

So have you relfected on how this story affects you. Will it inspire you to do less or more?

DAY 31 Today we are thankful for people who inspire us! They don’t have to be superstars or heros, they could be the person next door. What do they have in you ask?

People who inspire us have one simple thing in common, though they do not always do what they do “to” inspire us, they do what they believe in, and the common trait amoung them is when they do it, they make us aspire to be better people.

You could select a thousand people to illustrate this fact. It could be Obama, or it could be a School Crossing guard who takes the time to talk to a child who is crying, or the many people who simply show up at charity fund raisers. They all inspire us and lift us up and we are surely greatful for that.

For those of you who were American Idol fans last year you saw David and his brother Allan and are likely up to date on the story, however for those of you who are not…. simply watch the video… or even if you know about it… watch it anyways because…. you will be inspired!

Instead of staying home and keeping is sadness inward, David responded to his brother Adam’s death by attending the Run for hope in Washington DC.

PIQ Positive Imperative Question. Do you inspire people? Do certain people in your life inspire you? Do you tell them? Do you try and live up to those aspirations!

A song and sing that inspires! (Also see my top ten motivational songs).

Maryann O'ourke September 24, 2009

this is in response to the posithanks of days 33, 34 58 & 59…

I’ve arrived home this morning and do not know what I am about to do yet. I approach the stairs of my apartment and before I hed up the Sunflower captivates me. The sunflower has 5 stalks, I count seventeen budding sunflowers on the stalk that is erect. The thicker of the stalks has only 2 sunflowers which the one of the two is an amazing sight. I have ogled in amazement the sunflower’s yellowish-orange withering petals that are becoming characteristically alive in the nature of it’s Art of life. It’s rained sporadically throughout the work night. As I look, observing the gigantic withered sunflower that is nearly drooped its way down to the ground, I am astonished with this lifeform and the surrounding sounds as if I was it the middle of the jungle. I wish I had a video camera so I can capture these moments, oh wait a car’s going by. Ok back to ..(oh wait) an Ameren worktruck , oh man a Dodge Neon..ok ok back to the wilderness I was experiencing this beautiful life filled day.I was observing the puddle of water that is intricately placed underneath wait that is actually on top, droopig down the minute body of water from the rain. Well I observed something that is breathtaking. Is this a paleontologists? the study of living things, no wait oh what’s the study of living things. Perhaps a botanist?…anyways…oops it’s starting to sprinkle ,the page is getting wet. I look up to the heavens before I retire for a nap, I hear the airplane”The plane Boss, the plane”, through the thickenss of clouds that fills the sky—-“the Study of Life.” Eros is the love of wisdom>the love of Eros is wisdom>passion for living…Life is Art, Art is life. In its intricate, intrinsic moment of being..ALIVEl. Eros is the eroticism felt for the passion to live, passion to love, and passion to die….the Passion to express what it means to be ALIVE!!!!

Love in the highest form the Creator himself.
