For the past couple of months, it seems that everyone is talking about the end of the Mayan calander, the 2012 Apocoloypse, or better known to some as the end of the world. For awhile I believed this concept to be nonsense, but then my interest was piqued, and I had to learn more.

Is the end of the world on its way? From what I’ve learned, it’s a debated topic. Some say it is (taking the negative outlook) while others say this is our chance to start over, and to learn from our mistakes (taking the positive outlook.)

All too often, when given a crisis, such as the end of the world epidemic, we sit back and go, “What can I do, I am only one person,” and so we leave it to the next guy to fix the problem, and so we are left with problems like the economical downfall, global warming, poverty and so much more.

But today is our chance to change that. By choosing to live positively, see positively, and love positively, we can all be the change that the world is needing and wanting to see.

Yes, it is true, one person will have a difficult time, changing the world, but by making one small change, it can cause a ripple effect across the planet.

Just as they advise you in setting goals, in order to change the world, you need to start with baby steps. Perhaps you could go out and pick up garbage in your community, on a day other than Earth Day. Perhaps you could go through your cupboards and give food to the Food Banks, or to those who are in need. Perhaps you could go and visit the elderly, or those at a hospital, or simply choose to turn your lights off in the house from dawn til dusk.

All of these changes, however small, can make a difference, to someone, or to something. When we each make these small changes, than a bigger change is being made.

What will you do today to help our Earth? To help humanity? To help yourself? With the 2012 year quickly approaching, I believe it’s time to start taking the steps to show our love for our Earth, our neighbours and ourselves. Perhaps the 2012 phenomenon is just like the Y2K, but in the mean time, if you’ve made the world just that much better, than you have nothing to lose.

Now is the time to choose to make a difference, to choose to take a small step so that we all can see a better tomorrow, a brighter future and more.

I recently came across the song Better Days by Google Dolls. They’ve taken the small step to bring us a song, of Better Days, to enlighten many and let us all know that this is possible.
